Sometimes, it’s just that time. Usually early June, when global events are happening and people and place become tired of usuality. It probably has something to do with all those years of having nothing to do all summer but build forts, ride bicycles and get into trouble on a hourly basis. You feel it, I feel it, every early June the season is simply beckoning for a retreat.
It’s the vacation. It’s the Summer. It’s the best.
Been trying to gather my thoughts about the earthquake in Haiti over the past week. It seems very well like one of those defining moments in history when things that never before happened take shape and place. It also took a spot close to home because it is just quite simply so close. And friends were there.
When the Tsunami’s hit the micro/mela/polynesia area it felt so distant. Even though I remember telling myself about how big of a deal this was, that they’re real people… It still felt distant.
Haiti is pretty much the total opposite.
If a standby flight across the country, ocean, mountain and piles of aging cheddar were the ingredients for one incredible time out of Orlando for the holidays… That’s what I was just served. Not a mountain-full, or an ocean-full, but a life-time supply of incredible memories and unforgettably cheese filled moments. Which is where the whole quandary comes in… throughout the trip a logical deduction of time and reason was created for every life moments relation to a cheese dish. It took some serious time.
Which is why I have not written in almost a month.
