A Surplus of Enigmatic Relaxation

Some­times, it’s just that time. Usu­ally early June, when global events are hap­pen­ing and peo­ple and place become tired of usu­al­ity. It prob­a­bly has some­thing to do with all those years of hav­ing noth­ing to do all sum­mer but build forts, ride bicy­cles and get into trou­ble on a hourly basis. You feel it, I feel it, every early June the sea­son is sim­ply beck­on­ing for a retreat.

It’s the vaca­tion. It’s the Sum­mer. It’s the best.

Can Enough Be Done In Haiti?

Been try­ing to gather my thoughts about the earth­quake in Haiti over the past week. It seems very well like one of those defin­ing moments in his­tory when things that never before hap­pened take shape and place. It also took a spot close to home because it is just quite sim­ply so close. And friends were there.

When the Tsunami’s hit the micro/mela/polynesia area it felt so dis­tant. Even though I remem­ber telling myself about how big of a deal this was, that they’re real peo­ple… It still felt distant.

Haiti is pretty much the total opposite.

The logical quandary of travel and adventure

If a standby flight across the coun­try, ocean, moun­tain and piles of aging ched­dar were the ingre­di­ents for one incred­i­ble time out of Orlando for the hol­i­days… That’s what I was just served. Not a mountain-full, or an ocean-full, but a life-time sup­ply of incred­i­ble mem­o­ries and unfor­get­tably cheese filled moments. Which is where the whole quandary comes in… through­out the trip a log­i­cal deduc­tion of time and rea­son was cre­ated for every life moments rela­tion to a cheese dish. It took some seri­ous time.

Which is why I have not writ­ten in almost a month.
