The Shelter

Posted on 27 November, 2009 at 11:17am with no comments

This is one of the coolest things I have seen in a while… and in honor of the day after thanksgiving its appropriate to write about super cool things. It should be well known that I am a pretty huge fan of buzz word phenomena e.g. (social media, social innovation, nowism, etc.) when there is a conglomerate of buzz words making up a giant description… I lost control.  This is a conglomerate of buzz words describing a new workspace in Dubai

The Shelter is a first of its kind community workspace that allows individuals from various creative disciplines to engage in an environment that nurtures entrepreneurial small businesses. The Shelter is a medium for forward thinkers, creatives and intellectuals to connect and exchange ideas; converting those interactions into commercial services and products through subsidized work spaces.”

Sometimes you have to make up a word for pure insanity.

It seems like everywhere I have been looking the growing power of the Google-tron is continually increasing in size, power, force, scale and stomp-ability. It has been articles in Wired Magazine about “googlenomics” and their pure enterprise of auctioning their advertising space. It has been the pure insanity ushered by Google Wavites. It is listening to NPR a few weeks ago, twice in one day and hearing two separate conversations about the growing power of the google machine. Don’t get me wrong, Google is brilliant, awesome, huge and crafty… I use Gmail, Wave, Docs, Scholar and now Reader… but when does it end?

the symmetry of defiance and compliance

Posted on 17 November, 2009 at 12:01pm with no comments

Saturday night I went to a concert. Melody and rhythm and the goodness they entail were in bounty.  Music did what it ought to do that night and got my mind working. Thinking and progressing thoughts in and out of connections between memories and trails of things I’ve learned through 21 years of mistake making.

At one point in the concert I was the most struck with a interesting thought.

The pianist was evoking some thoughts about balance that were trailing my thoughts into symmetry. I was running through images of the most symmetrical things I have ever seen. Then the vocalist sang the word defiance and this picture got stuck in my head that created this phrase “the symmetry of defiance and compliance”

A fully mind blowing design. Wired magazine always pushes out awesome stuff… and combined with the Behance network?
